The "Sakigake 21" programme of the Japan Science and Technology Corporation (JST)


The "Sakigake 21" programme is one of the research initiatives of the Japan Science and Technology Corporation (JST)

The purpose of the PRESTO - Sakigake programme which was started in 1991 is to let individual creative scientists conduct their research as freely as possible so that his or her unique ideas may be fully persued to bear fruitful new innovations.

Applications are open to any nationality, however the application procedure and all communication and reporting is in Japanese language. Sofar (until 1994) two non-Japanese nationals have been accepted as "Sakigake"-researchers: Ronald Scott (Biophysics), and Gerhard Fasol (Semiconductors) Next deadline for applications is in May 1996. Why don't you try? Look here for last years application information---sorry: since the application must be made in Japanese language this information is also in Japanese language only, therefore you will need a computer and a WEB-browser capable of displaying Japanese text to read this link.
