starting operations in Japan, "going it alone"?

we build-operate-transfer (BOT) your business...

Japan is the world's second largest national economy and most businesses cannot ignore Japan. Business in Japan is extraordinarily difficult for most companies.

For foreign (European or American) businesses there are several ways to build and operate in Japan: ask a Japanese trading company to import your products to Japan and sell your products in Japan, enter into a joint-venture agreement with a Japanese partner, or building your own subsidiary in Japan.

Each of these approaches has advantages and disadvantages. In the past foreign companies usually chose the path via joint-ventures or selling in Japan via trading companies. These traditional ways are often initially satsifactory, but as business develops it is usually better for foreign companies to build their own subsidiaries. One reason is, that you wish to talk directly to your customers (in Japanese language of course).

If you build your own subsidiary or if you enter into joint-ventures you will face a number of management issues. Solving these issues needs profound business knowledge, information and sound experience in Japan. Sending an expatriate from home usually is extremely expensive, and unless this expatriate has extended experience in Japan, he or she may not be very effective or even may encounter a number of problems. You may also notice that things are "going wrong" at your Japanese subsidiary or joint-venture.

Eurotechnology's interim management / Build-operate-transfer services provide efficient, quick and cost effective solutions in many cases. We can analyze the situation in your joint-venture, we can build your Japan subsidiary for you, coordinate the work with efficient head-hunters to search for your management personnel and hand over the subsidiary to you. We can build your customer service department in Japan, and we can perform a range of other services for you.
